Best practices to maximise your profile – our top tips!

Your profile is your shop window for attracting potential clients, so it’s vital you make the most of it to maximise your chances of success. A strong, well-presented profile will help you stand out and increase your chances of winning new clients.
Here are our top tips to ensure your profile works as hard as possible for you.
Make a great first impression with your profile photo

Peter G (Tennis Coach) getting it spot on!
Your photo is the very first thing people will see, so make it count! We recommend a high-quality, clear, and approachable headshot, or a photo of you actively coaching or playing your sport. A strong, professional-looking image instantly builds trust and helps you stand out.

Avoid this!
Please avoid using group photos, logos and any other promotional materials, or images that include other people’s faces, as these can distract from you as the coach.
Please note: As we cannot verify the consent of people appearing in your photos, kindly avoid uploading images that show the faces of other individuals. Photos that include others are acceptable as long as their faces are not visible or identifiable (e.g. blurred faces or images taken from behind).
Adding the sport(s) you coach
It’s mandatory to select a primary sport, but don’t stop there. If you coach multiple sports, add them all. This ensures your profile appears in more searches and attracts a wider audience looking for your expertise.
Your location and radius for coaching
Location is an important factor for people looking to receive coaching, so the more specific you can be, the better.
The best way to show up in searches is to:
- Add the full postcode (e.g. EC1A 1AA) or the first half of the postcode (e.g. EC1A) of the primary location you coach from.
- Choose a radius that reflects how far you’re willing to travel from that postcode.
If you coach from your home, we recommend only using a partial postcode unless you’re comfortable with your full postcode being displayed (your house number/full address won’t be visible).
Avoid simply selecting a large town or city such as “London”. This makes it harder to stand out, as profiles where the same town/city have been selected as their location are grouped together on map listings.
If your coaching takes place in a single location (e.g. swimming lessons at a specific leisure centre), add the venue and select “This area only”. Prospective new clients can also filter coaches by the distance they’re willing to travel, so setting this up properly helps you get found more easily.
Grab attention with your headline statement
Your headline is the preview text shown in search results. It’s just as important as your profile photo for catching attention and encouraging people to click through to your profile.
This should be a short, punchy statement that highlights things such as:
- What you coach
- Your qualifications
- Your coaching experience
Think of it as your “elevator pitch”. Make it stand out, make it relevant, and make it memorable. Limit this statement to under 150 characters.
Go into detail in your biography
Your biography is where potential clients get to know you better. This is your opportunity to showcase your expertise, your coaching style, and why people should choose you.
Things that are good to add to this section include:
- Your qualifications and certifications
- The type of coaching you provide (e.g. goalkeeper coaching, strength & conditioning, beginners lessons, advanced performance coaching, etc.)
- Your coaching philosophy or methodology
- Relevant information about yourself that makes you relatable and approachable
The more detail you provide, the more confidence potential clients will have in your ability to help them achieve their goals.
Highlight your coaching experience
Here’s where you elaborate on your coaching background. Experience can be a deciding factor for many clients, so it’s important to provide as much detail as possible about your coaching roles, responsibilities and achievements.
Make sure you clearly outline:
- How long you’ve been coaching for
- Who you’ve coached (teams, individuals, beginners, professionals, children, adults, etc.)
- Any notable achievements or success you’ve had with your clients
By showcasing your track record, you’ll build credibility and trust with potential clients.
The type of coaching sessions you offer
Let users know what type of coaching services you provide.
Select group sessions, private 1-1, online coaching or all of them if you offer all 3 services. This ensures you appear in search results for people searching for a particular type of session, giving you extra visibility and a better chance of being contacted.
Selecting your pricing
You have full control over setting your own prices for 1-to-1 sessions, group coaching, and online coaching. When choosing your rates, aim for a balance between reflecting your experience and keeping them competitive.
We recommend:
- Researching typical rates for your sport in your area
- Considering the type of client you want to attract
- Being transparent and consistent with your pricing
Setting your prices too high may put you out of reach for many clients, while setting them too low could undervalue your skills. A reasonable, market-aligned price point helps you stay attractive to clients while reflecting your expertise.
Display your availability and keep it up to date
Add your availability and keep it regularly updated so potential clients know when you’re available for sessions. This helps avoid unsuitable requests and user disappointment.
If your schedule changes frequently, take a couple of minutes each week to update your availability. It’s a small step that can make a big difference.

Keep your availability up to date!
Upload some snaps of you in action
A picture paints a thousand words, and action shots are a great way to show your energy, passion, and coaching style. Uploading photos of you coaching, playing, or working with clients can help users imagine what it’s like to train with you.
These photos should highlight you doing what you do best and be clear, professional, and relevant. As with your profile photo, please avoid using photos where other individuals’ faces are clearly displayed as we are unable to monitor their consent for the photos to be used.
